Governor approves taxpayer funds for union training

The governor, in signing the budget, approved funding for the Evergreen State College Labor Education and Research Center at a level of at least $200,000 over the next two years.

A recent audit found this center violated state ethics laws by aligning itself too closely with labor unions. By continuing the center's funding without mandating any changes in its operation, legislators and the governor show no concern for misuse of taxpayer funds.

Public education funds should not be used to finance the goals of special interest groups. Publicly funded schools should teach about history -- including the labor movement -- but should do so in an objective fashion, not as allies of and training grounds for organized labor.

More on H.R. 2454

Ultimately, this bill would result in government-set caps on energy use that damage the economy and hobble growth--the very growth that supports investment and innovation. Analysis of the economic impact of Waxman-Markey projects that by 2035 the bill would:

Reduce aggregate gross domestic product (GDP) by $9.6 trillion;

Destroy 1,105,000 jobs on average, with peak years seeing unemployment rise by over 2,479,000 jobs;

Raise electricity rates 90 percent after adjusting for inflation;

Raise inflation-adjusted gasoline prices by 74 percent;

Raise residential natural gas prices by 55 percent;

Raise an average family's annual energy bill by $1,500; and

Increase inflation-adjusted federal debt by 26 percent, or $29,150 additional federal debt per person, again after adjusting for inflation.

Write You Representatives- Tell Them "NO"

Please write your representatives and tell them to vote NO to H.R. 2454!!!!

American Clean Energy And Security Act of 2009-This is the Waxman-Markley comprehensive energy bill, known for short as "ACES," that includes a cap-and-trade global warming reduction plan designed to reduce economy-wide greenhouse gas emissions 17 percent by 2020. Other provisions include new renewable requirements for utilities, studies and incentives regarding new carbon capture and sequestration technologies, energy efficiency incentives for homes and buildings, and grants for green jobs, among other things.

This TAX will raise the average annual energy bill by $ 3,000!!! We are approaching an energy crisis because no new energy resources has been added in 30 years and now they want to tax what energy we are using!!!

"Alliance Defense Fund attorneys warn that the U.S. Senate should not pass H.R. 1913, the so-called ‘hate crimes’ bill. If it becomes law, ADF attorneys say the bill could severely impede Americans’ constitutional rights to freedom of religion and freedom of expression while creating additional legal protections for those engaged in homosexual behavior that are not available to everyone else.“All violent crimes are hate crimes, and all crime victims deserve equal justice,” said ADF Senior Counsel Kevin Theriot. “So-called ‘hate crime’ laws actually serve only one purpose: The criminalization of citizens based on whatever thoughts, beliefs, and emotions they have that are not considered to be ‘politically correct.’ No one should fall for the idea that this bill does anything to bring about greater justice for Americans.”
